How should spend a school 10.000 € and 50.000 € on media equipment?
A school has many different opportunities how to spend a certain amount of money on media equipment. There are some very useful investigations which offer a lot to both, the students and the teachers, but there are also some pieces of equipment which are totally unnecessary for school. Look which two different concepts I created for spending 10.000 € as well as 50.000 € on media equipment.
How to spend 10.000 €
An overview about the purchases:
I think for 10.000 € it is useful to equip the staff room with 2 notebooks, 2 printers and 2 scanners. All three are essential technical supports which has to be there in a staff room. The teachers have the ability to look something up in the internet during the break or their free periods, they can print out worksheets, if they have not the ability at home and they can check the electronic plan of substitution. Another important fact is the use of the scanners. It increases the preparing of worksheets for the teachers, because they have to scan different tasks and put them together on one sheet of paper.
Furthermore, it is necessary to have portable DVD players, digital cameras and notebooks in a cupboard in the staff room so that every teacher can transport it into their classes if it is needed. A DVD player is very important for all foreign languages, when it is asked to do film analysis. Nearly every piece of film is on a DVD today and therefore every school needs several DVD players. They are very useful because you can watch and analyze scene by scene or can fast forward.
Digital cameras are used for several different subjects either. They can be established in foreign language subjects or in sports for example. Whenever the children have to do a freeze frame, a little theatre play, perform a song or create acrobatic figures with their bodies, it is nice to have a digital camera to record the creations for later watching and analyzing it. Nevertheless, the most important purchase for a school are the notebooks. In my point of view, it is so important to have a notebook in every classroom, because the teachers and students profit from it. In the next years, more and more schools will use Smart Boards and a notebook in every classroom is the preliminary stage for it.
The concrete plan:
The equipment for the staff room which contains 2 notebooks, 2 printers and 2 scanners will cost
1240 €.
I would buy:
2 notebooks for 400 € each
2 printers for 100 € each
2 scanners for 120 € each
I have left 8760 €. So I would buy 15 notebooks so that every or nearly every classroom has one. It depends on the size of the school. This will cost round about 6000 €. So I have still money left. As I already mentioned, I would buy DVD players and digital cameras. It is fitting to buy 10 each. That will cost 1000 € for the DVD players and 800 € for the digital cameras.
I already spend 9040 € all in all. That means that I still have left 960 €. I think it is necessary to left this money for paper, ink cartridges and reparation.
How to spend 50.000 €
I would spend 10.000 € for the same purchases as I mentioned above, because I think these things are so important for schools that they cannot work without it. It is just a basic media equipment which increases the working day in schools enormously.
There are 40.000 € left. As I already mentioned, the Smart Boards are coming into the schools in the next years. One of them is very expensive and costs 4000 €. So I would buy 10 Smart Boards to install them in the biology room, the chemistry room, the art room, the edv room and in 6 normal classrooms. It is not possible to install one in every classroom because of the high prices, but it is possible to create a plan for the rooms which have a Smart Board, so that every teacher who needs one in his or her lesson can book a room with such an interactive board and can work with it. The fact that these boards are in so many normal classrooms prevent some overlapping.
